Rohdea japonica 'Kanpaku'

A suikou-gunjaku variety which retains the sparrow-beak-like leaf tips, this plant manifests various gei (mutations) such as gashiryu (multiple lengthwise ridges), nimenryu (dual lengthwise ridges), suzumushi-ken (needle-like projection at the tip), and kenba (very narrow sword-like leaves). Its beauty culminates when yahazu-torafu (band-like variegation across leaves) appears against the very dark green background.
To enhance the yahazu-torafu, give it plenty of light, and keep the leaves wide by giving it plenty of fertilizer.
