Omoto (Rohdea japonica) 'Fukokuden' (富国殿) no. 2
¥61,577
(This item is for the U.S. Group Order. Please see below about how to purchase the same item without participating in the Group Order.) (この商品は米国向け共同購入専用です。) Omoto (Rohdea japonica) 'Fukokuden' no. 2 Product Code: 119 A small rasha variety. The pointy leaves with pure white fukurin (variegation around the edges) will overlap one another in an orderly manner and turn downward. They will develop kouryu (lengthwise ridge), noshiha (leaves with both sides folded in), and, on occasions, kenba (sword-like narrow leaves). As the plant grows old, the leaves will be covered with sougashiryu (lengthwise ridges all over the leaves). This particular plant is exhibition-ready. Nursery: Nakamuraen (The plant[s] will be shipped “bare-rooted,” without soil or pot, with the roots wrapped in sphagnum moss. If you are participating in the U.S. Group Order, you don’t need to pay for the phytosanitary certificate.) (If you would like to purchase this same item without participating in the U.S. Group Order [you don’t live in the mainland U.S., you already have an Import Permit for the U.S., etc.], you can purchase the same item by adding “E” at the end of the 3-digit product number and enter it in the “Search items” box. Omoto (Rohdea japonica) 'Taiyou' (太陽)
¥107,527
(This item is for the U.S. Group Order. Please see below about how to purchase the same item without participating in the Group Order.) (この商品は米国向け共同購入専用です。) 'Taiyou' Product Code: 107 Not to be confused with 'Taiyouden,' this shimakou cultivar, which was created in 1973, still is one of the most highly coveted cultivars today. We are offering it at a modest price (well...relatively speaking) because it is still young. As it grows, so will its value. It is a hybrid of 'Kinkirin' and 'Fukujuryu,' thick around the bottom, with leaves as long as 8 inches. The wide leaves of a grown plant will radiate in a golden color, just like the sun (= "taiyou" in Japanese), with sogashiryu (lengthwise ridges all over the leaves) and tamaryu (ball-like projections among the ridges). It is a sturdy cultivar, and is easy to grow. Give it relatively strong light to enhance the gashiryu (lengthwise ridges), and plenty of fertilizer. Nursery: Tatetsuen (The plant[s] will be shipped “bare-rooted,” without soil or pot, with the roots wrapped in sphagnum moss. If you are participating in the U.S. Group Order, you don’t need to pay for the phytosanitary certificate.) ¥222,886
(This item is for the U.S. Group Order. Please see below about how to purchase the same item without participating in the Group Order.) (この商品は米国向け共同購入専用です。) 'Kairyujishi' Product Code: 086 One of the highest-grade shishi varieties. The recent shishi boom (especially in China) is largely attributable to this cultivar and 'Shikunshi.' This is a typical kakumaki shishi, whose leaves turn abruptly in an angular way. The first photo is of a typical grown plant. If this particular plant, which already has fukurin (variegation around the edge), develops shima (stripes) as well, like the plant in Picture 1, its value will jump up. Since this cultivar is rather delicate, do not overfertilize it. The pot in Pictures 2 & 3 is about 4.1 inches in diameter. Nursery: Tatetsuen (The plant[s] will be shipped “bare-rooted,” without soil or pot, with the roots wrapped in sphagnum moss. (この商品は米国向け共同購入専用です。) 'Shikunshi' Product Code: 087 One of the highest-grade shishi varieties. Along with 'Kairyujishi,' it is the driving force of the recent shishi boom (especially in China). It manifests biri (the edges of the kouryu [lengthwise ridges] and the leaves turning wavy), and the leaves with kakumaki curls (turning abruptly in an angular way) taper off to a sharp point. As is the case with 'Kairyujishi,' if this particular plant, which already shows fukurin (variegation around the edge), develops more stripes, its value will jump up. Give it plenty of light and a modest amount of fertilizer. The first photo is of a typical grown plant. The pot in Pictures 2 & 3 is about 4.1 inches in diameter. (この商品は米国向け共同購入専用です。) Omoto (Rohdea japonica) 'Tamahime' no. 1 Product Code: 085 A shishi variety that, despite the variety of hagei (mutations on the leaves) and the thickness of its leaves, curls its leaves well. What makes this cultivar so popular is, however, the gyokuryu (ball-like protrusions) like vortexes and the haneryu (protrusions like "jumping dragons") which are almost like horns on the highly raised sougashiryu (lengthwise ridges all over the leaves). You can see them on this plant, too. Sturdy, but too strong light will make it stop growing and its leaves less curly. The pot is about 4.1 inches in diameter. Nursery: Tatetsuen (The plant[s] will be shipped “bare-rooted,” without soil or pot, with the roots wrapped in sphagnum moss.
