Probably the best known marumaki (leaves curling in a curvy way) shishi cultivar, and a frequent award winner at Omoto exhibitions. As it was registered in 1950 and produces lots of baby shoots, there are a number of "shou" (subcultivars) in this cultivar. "Ishiwatari shou" is the most highly valued subcultivar for its abundant snow-white zu (irregular variegation).
