This is a seedling born of 'Daifuki' and 'Eihou.' 'Daifuku' is an oha cultivar with fukurin (variegation around the leaf edge), and 'Eihou' is a well-known parent cultivar of rasha plants.

This particular plant is a rasha variety with noshiha (leaves with both sides folded in) and nimenryu (double lengthwise ridges). It shows no variegation, but has a formal beauty.

The fun of growing a seedling lies in the fact that it may or may not grow up to be a masterpiece. Do you see a future masterpiece in its current form?
