Omoto (Rohdea japonica) 'Yukiguni'

A medium-sized rasha variety that was created in snowy Niigata (hence 'Yukiguni' = "snowy country"). It grows into an idiosyncratic form with the leaves turning downwards, staying low. Various hagei (formal mutations) will develop, such as gashiryu (multiple lengthwise ridges), noshiha (leaves with both sides folded in), nimenryu (double lengthwise ridges), kenba (sword-like narrow leaves), and suzumushiken (sword-like protrusions starting from the middle of a leaf) on the thick leaves with fukurin (variegation around the edges).
