当初株分けされたときは、大きい方に80万、小さい方に75万の値がついた、という名品。幸いなことに子出しがよく、価格が下がったため、お手頃な価格で入手できる名品として入門種の代表格となりました。

青（斑なし）、覆輪のみ、縞覆輪、図入りとバラエティーがあり、好みにもよりますが、青＜覆輪のみ＜縞覆輪＜図入りの順に価値が上がっていきます。ちなみに「瑞泉の図」というのは品種名ではなく、品種「瑞泉」に図の入ったもの、という意味です。

Legend has it that when this rasha variety was divided for the first time, the bigger piece was sold for 800,000 yen (about $5,100 at today's exchange rate) and the smaller piece for 750,000 yen (about $4,800 at today's exchange rate). Fortunately for us, this cultivar develops lots of baby shoots, so the price has come down quite a bit. It is now the "rasha gem for beginners." Its beauty is none the less for their current affordability, though.

The cultivar name is 'Zuisen.' 'Zuisen no Zu' means 'Zuisen' with zu.
