青く出た芽が、時を経るにつれ軸・枝ともに黄金色に透きとおり、赤みを帯びてきます。「玉華竺」「金光錦」とともに、3種しかないといわれる軸の透ける品種ですが、その透け方の美しさで群を抜きます。

丈夫でよく増えますが、中陽で作ることが肝要で、日が強すぎると枝が立ってしまい、弱すぎると透けが悪くなります。

The shoots that come out green will turn golden and transparent over time, becoming increasingly reddish. Among the three cultivars of which the stems turn transparent (the other two being 'Gyokukajiku' and 'Kinkounishiki'), the beauty of the transparency is by far the best in this cultivar.

It is a sturdy cultivar that propagates well, but it is important to grow it with medium light. Too strong light will make the branches stand up, and too weak light will spoil the transparency.
