「三光縮緬」とともに、古くから斑入り縮緬種の代表格として知られていますが、「三光縮緬」との厳密な区別はつけがたく、白がより鮮やかなものが「白牡丹」と呼ばれています。

芽は白く出て、その後やや黄色く仕上がります。

Along with 'Sankou Chirimen,' this cultivar has been well known as a variegated chirimen (fine, crinkly branches) cultivar, but it is practically impossible to distinguish it from 'Sankou Chirimen.' Those with more vividly white variegation are called 'Hakubotan.'

Shoots come out white, and then turn yellowish.
