太軸物では唯一の斑入り品種で、天保年間から珍重されてきました。出芽は青いですが、枝分かれする頃から散斑状の白い斑が先端から入り始め、それが黄金色に変わっていきます。枝先は細かく分かれます。

日照強く育てると、斑は冴えるものの先端に胞子嚢をつけて成長が止まってしまい、日が弱いと斑が出ません。

「麒麟獅子」に斑が入ったもの、といわれることもありますが、「麒麟獅子」に斑が入った事例は確認されたことがなく、逆に「麒麟獅子ノ斑」の実生苗はえてして無地物に育ちます。

This is the only futojiku (thick-stemmed) cultivar with variegation. For this reason, it has been highly valued since the early 17th century.

The white variegation that appears in a scattered manner at the tips when the stems start branching out turns golden as the plant grows.

Strong light will make the variegation brighter, but make the branches stop growing. With weak light, the variegation won't come out.

Some say it is a variation of ‘Kirinjishi,’ but no variegated plant is known to have spun off from ‘Kirinjishi.’ On the other hand, many sporelings of 'Kirinjishi no Fu' grow to be mujimono (non-variegated).
