Hassle-Free Option (U.S. Only)

For those of you who live in the U.S., we offer a “hassle-free” option. With this option, you can import live plants (Rohdea japonica and Selaginella tamariscina for now) into the U.S. without an import permit, as if you were buying them from a domestic vendor. If you would like to use this option, it is sold as a separate item (3,800JPY). Please purchase one PER PLANT along with the plants and the Phytosanitary Certificate fee (only one of which is needed PER ORDER). The only restriction for this option is that it is only available from April (late March in the case of Selaginella tamariscina) through November.

Non-EMS Option

If EMS is not available in your country, please contact us. We may be able to use parcel service.

Delayed Shipping

You are welcome to order live plants during winter and have them shipped when it is warmer (e.g., in the spring). We will take care of the plants until they are shipped.

Country/Region-Specific Requirements

Before placing the order for live plants, please make sure that they are allowed to be imported into your country. An import permit may be required. We are happy to work with you to find out what the requirements are for your country and for the particular plants you are interested in. A CITES certificate/permit may be required in some cases. No CITES document is required for Omoto (Rohdea japonica) or Iwahiba (Selaginella tamariscina).

Looking for Other Plants from Japan?

If you are looking for plants that are not listed, please let us know. We are happy to look for them and export them to you.

The same applies to equipment. If you are looking for non-plant goods (such as racks, pots, and pumices), feel free to contact us.

Customs and Duties

International shipments may be subject to import duties and taxes. Please bear in mind that the recipient will be held responsible for them. If the recipient refuses to accept the shipment, it will be returned to Japan and will not be shipped again. Associated costs incurred by us will be deducted from the refund. If live plants are returned dead, there will be no refund and an additional charge may apply. Phytosanitary certificates and CITES documents are not refundable.

Group Orders

For live plants, we plan to accept group orders periodically from customers in the U.S. You will probably save money by joining a group order, rather than placing individual orders. The paperwork (Import Permit, etc.) will be taken care of by us. For now, we are planning to accept group orders for Omoto (Rohdea japonica) once in spring, once in fall, and Iwahiba (Selaginella tamariscina) once in spring. We will choose the timing so that the the damage to the plants will be minimal. We will consider other plants if there is sufficient demand. We will announce group orders here, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
