Morynos Utsurindo in Nagano, Japan, is now taking reservations of Omoto (Rohdea japonica) for the US group order of 2026, with the help of Mr. Duane McDowell.
The plants ordered through the group order can only be shipped to people in the U.S. (Hawaii excluded, unfortunately).
DEADLINE TO RESERVE PLANTS IS NOVEMBER 8, 2026 (maybe extended to November 13).
Please select what you want from here:

We will probably add some more to the list, so please keep checking.
Here's how the group order works:
- Select the plant(s) you want.
- Send Duane ([email protected]) the name and 3-digit plant number of your selections. Please don't send him a screenshot or a link.
- He will reserve them for you and send you confirmation that the plants have been reserved.
- When the order is finalized (November 9 or 14), Takuo Yasuda of Morynos Utsurindo will send him an invoice for all the plants, and Duane will send you an invoice for the plants you have reserved.
The price per plant will be the catalog price plus $14.50 per plant for Phyto/CITES/Shipping from Japan/Re-shipping to Minnesota/and handling (we’ve started to use air freight and a Customs Broker, which is more expensive, but much faster).
Shipping to you: $12 per box (USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground, depending on your location) or $40 (USPS Express Mail or UPS Air). The goal is for this to be very close to the actual cost!
Plant prices are in JPY (¥). The final plant price will be base on the exchange rate of the closing day (November 8th or 13th).
After receiving the invoice, you'll send Duane payment via PayPal (choose "friends and family", please). Note: if you will be using a credit card for the transaction, you will be charged a 2.9% fee. If you have a bank account linked to your PayPal account, or you use your PayPal balance, there is no fee.
Once he has gotten everyone's payment, he pays Morynos Utsurindo. In the interim, Morynos Utsurindo will have ordered agricultural inspection in Japan, and Duane will have alerted the Customs Brokerage.
Plants are shipped! They go by air freight from Japan to the Customs Broker, who carries them to USDA where they are inspected (if the volume is small, we may use EMS). After inspection, the Customs Broker sends Duane the plants via air freight. Using this process, the entire shipping process from Japan to your door is generally 6-8 days. We will keep you posted on the shipping date as we get closer to it.
Plants arrive! When the plants arrive, Duane will print mailing labels, re-pack, and ship using USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground (depending on your location).
